Some years ago a missionary from abroad came to Delsar, Dahod District, Gujarat State, India. He was eager to eat the food of the Bhil people. The Bhils came to know of his eagerness and they prepared their staple food made of corn called roTo (a big chapatti).

And they served him the roTo with the curry over it. The village people crowded around there to watch him eat the chapatti. The missionary was also waiting that someone would accompany him as he did not know how to eat.  But in vain as the Bhils wanted to watch him eat the roTo. Not even a single person had the food with him in his hand.

At last, he thought the chapatti as a kind of plate and the curry over it as the food and started eating the curry. After finishing the curry, he threw away the chapatti.

The Bhils who were eagerly watching were disappointed, so he asked them the reason for their disappointment. They replied him they were disappointed because he threw away the chapatti which they had prepared happily.

He apologised and told them he threw it thinking it was a kind of plate.

Now also the Delsar people remember this incident and share it with others.
